Pin Drop

Already orcas
three days have passed
since I last
unupholstered myself
on borrowed thighs
against yellow patterned leaves

and a methane explosion
in New York I wasn’t near enough to hear
today caused panic

especially for those most worried it could only kill the slower way

My mom from my cushion called me
but I can’t muster the voice
or unglue enough to ever fail her

It’s best to sit
practicing geography
going everywhere I can
from this mustard color

not imaging what’s close
or what distance spares me

Whale watching was a good thing
now on the couch
from the otherside
without the issued binoculars
